Reader's note

This lovely vintage book is a perfect addition to any literary lover's bookshelf, adding a pop of green to the room. This excellent novel that’s considers the differing experiences of men and women owes its birth from the relationship between Woolf and her probable lover Vita Sackville-West her fellow female writer, as she writes in her diary: “A biography beginning in the year 1500 and continuing to the present day, called Orlando. Vita; only with a change about from one sex to the other”. A story spanning three centuries follows a character named Orlando who at differing points in history is either a man or a woman. - ‘For it would seem - her case proved it - that we write, not with the fingers, but with the whole person. The nerve which controls the pen winds itself about every fibre of our being, threads the heart, pierces the liver.’
