Reader's note

This is the fourth Malory Towers book, and is just as interesting, exciting and amusing as the other five books in this first-class series of School stories. No one but Enid Blyton can so well picture the whole life of a modern boarding school - the school itself, the mistresses, the girls big and small, the games, quarrels, lessons and rows. The young reader feels as if she herself belongs to Malory Towers, as the familiar girls once more talk and laugh and joke - Alicia with her tricks, Darrell with her temper, sly Gwnedoline, scared Mary-Lou, the madcaps Belinda and irene, and the rest. This time they are in a yet higher form and for a whole term we see them vividly, playing, working, riding, swimming, getting into trouble and out, helping and hindering one another - all alive and natural, just like the girls in any school in the country.
