Reader's note

This wonderful book deserves a place in your home collection! It speaks of all the different trees, plants and animals that live within the British Woodlands and is fully illustrated throughout. The editors also lament the loss of woodlands in the united kingdom as the following passage shows - as we wander through the countless streets of our crowded cities, we can scarcely realise that ages ago Britain possessed enormous woods, and that her people lived and hunted and fought in the dark recesses of those ancient forests...how different is the England of modern day! Great belts of forest land have been cleared, where once the sturdy Oak and stately Beech reigned supreme, we now find rich pasture lands and fields waving with corn! - it certainly makes one think! Learn a new appreciation for the beauty of nature with this delightful vintage book.
