Reader's note

This collection has several stories by Oscar Wilde including The Picture of Dorian Gray, as well as his plays and poetry! There is an introduction by Merlin Holland who remarks: 'There is much of Wilde himself to be found there and not only in the most obvious guises. He himself admitted that there were autobiographical elements in The Picture of Dorian Gray and there would have been no sense in his denying that an amalgam of Lord Illingworth from A Woman of No Importance and Lord Goring from An Ideal Husband was an ideal Wilde.'
