Reader's note

Country House Library is proud to catalogue this pocket sized antique! Published in 1886, this is one title that is a must for anyone who loves classic Greek mythology. The author notes in his preface - I have included in this book a considerable part of the contents of my volumes 'Stories from Homer' and 'Stories from Virgil'. My object has been two fold 1. To help young scholars just set to work on Homer or Virgil by giving them a general account. 2. To supply boys and girls whose education does not include any study of Homer or Virgil in the original with a reading book which shall be both attractive in itself, and also give them a glimpse of two of the greatest poems in the world - a great and noble goal. This book is wonderful and it will take the reader to the mythical times of ancient Greece right from the comfort of their favourite reading spot.
