The dust jacket to this book is certainly eye catching! The border of the title is almost like a mural depicting many scenes and historical figures from the Elizabethan time period. Many of which were the backdrop to the incredible poems contained within. Just who is the dark lady that Shakespeare so worshipped? - My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red, than her lips red: If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. I have seen roses damasked, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; - no clues to be found in this stanza sadly but we can all appreciate the beautiful poetry. Remind yourself why Shakespeare is considered to be one of Britain's best writers and add this wonderful book to your vintage library.
