Once common birds in the Scottish highlands, the osprey, the avocet, and the black-tailed godwit were hunted so extensively that they were almost fully driven out of the country. Thanks to the efforts of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the once rare birds have started to nest once more in their old habitat. This charming book is an account of the birds' leaving and returning and is accompanied by wonderful photographs in black-and-white of these magnificent creatures.
