Reader's note

A 1938 The Penguin Shakespeare edition of The Second Part of Henry The Fourth by William Shakespeare. After the Battle of Shrewsbury the King's forces march against the rebels in the north. Sir John Falstaff continues his low adventures in London taverns. Being given a command, he visits an old acquaintance, Justice Shallow, in Gloucestershire, to collect recruits. The rebels are defeated by a treacherous trick. King Henry IV, worn out with his troubles, dies. The wild Prince succeeds as King Henry V, and at once reforms. Falstaff and his friends come to London for the Coronation, expecting the King's favour. The King symbolises his reform by publicly dismissing Falstaff.
