The Magicians is a fantasy and satire about Sir Charles Ravenstreet, a middle-aged industrialist who is forced out of his long-held job. He is then targeted by a villainous lord, but an encounter with three mysterious men—the "magicians"—leads him to realize his life is not over. The story uses fantastical elements to explore themes of time, midlife crisis, and modern society.
