Reader's note

This charming little pocket-sized book is a well-loved classic by G.K Chesterton. The most endearing and eccentric figure, Father Brown has already made an appearance in Penguin green covers. In the previous volume, The incredulity of Father Brown he revealed his philosophy of crime as well as his supreme skill in the science of detection. Fame and publicity were too much for this modest little priest, so he sought seclusion as a missionary in a remote parish in South Africa. When his death there was announced the Press considered it news-and so it proved, beyond their wildest expectations. For father Brown came to life as his own funeral and gave further dramatic demonstrations of his virtuosity. A gem among a bounty of stunning vintage books and classic novels on our online used bookstore.
