The Importance of Being Earnest is Oscar Wilde's witty Victorian comedy about two bachelors, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who invent fake personas, "Ernest" and "Bunbury," to escape social obligations, only for their deceptions to unravel when they both fall for women who insist on marrying a man named Ernest, leading to a farcical plot involving mistaken identities, disapproving aunts (Lady Bracknell), and a hilarious revelation that Jack's real name is Earnest, resolving all their romantic entanglements.
