Reader's note

Alistair MacLean's writings are always a classy and welcome addition to any bookshelf. On the small Island of Kheros off the Turkish coast 1.200 British soldiers are trapped and doomed to die unless the venomous, damnably accurate guns of Navarone, the grim bastion guarding the straits, its manned by a mixed garrison of veteran German and Italian troops - an apparently impregnable iron fortress that is the supreme obstacle to any rescue attempt by the Royal Navy. Just one of the many antique, rare and obscure books available on our online vintage bookstore.
