Reader's note

This fascinating vintage book show cases two further dialogues by Eric Linklater, completing the design originally began with The Cornerstones. The Great Ship was originally broadcast in May 1944. Rabelais Replies, which was originally broadcast in October 1944, is a third conversation is elysium, the dominating theme of which is education. Education, it is claimed, is our great modern discovery, and what is now needed is education for all. The protagonists in the debate are Francois Rabelais; Bishop Nikolai Grundtvig, the founder of the Danish Folk high Schools; Dean Swift; and Flying Officer Arden's elder brother, a Sergeant of the Desert Army. With a tasteful blue dustjacket, this lovely old book can find a forever home in your library.
