Reader's note

This would be a fantastic gift for any Brontë fan! This vibrant 1966 edition of The Brontë Letters represents Charlotte, Emily, Anne Brontë well, and so too are their colourful brother Branwell and their parents, the Rev. Patrick Brontë and Maria Branwell. Muriel Spark has selected the letters in such a way that to read them is to read the life story of the Brontë family, the developing background against which the three girls wrote their famous novels. In her introduction, Miss Spark gives a brief biographical study of each member of the family and draws attention to the points at which the predominant ideas of the parents are developed and adapted by their children.
