Reader's note

A floral covered 1981 edition of The Bongleweed by Helen Cresswell. 'Oh my word, did you ever see such a thing?' cried Becky's Mum. 'Whatever on earth is it?'. At first, the Bongleweed seems just an overgrown weed, until it starts growing at an arm's length a day, sprouting exotic flowers and invading other people's gardens. Then Becky's family and neighbours start getting frightened. With wonderful illustrations by Ann Strugnell, this is a lovely book for the younger reader.
