Reader's note

This beautiful duo of books would make an excellent gift for any fan of detective stories and crime fiction. The long stories of Sherlock Holmes include four novels: A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of the Four, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Valley of Fear. These narratives cover a wide range of cases, from the first meeting of Holmes and Watson in A Study in Scarlet to a treasure hunt and murder investigation in The Sign of the Four, a supernatural mystery in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and a criminal conspiracy in The Valley of Fear. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is a mystery novel narrated by Dr. James Sheppard, in which the wealthy Roger Ackroyd is murdered in his study just after his fiancée, Mrs. Ferrars, dies by suicide after confessing she poisoned her husband. The case is taken on by Hercule Poirot, who must unravel the truth from a cast of suspects, all of whom have secrets, and the narrator, Dr. Sheppard himself. The book is famous for its startling twist ending, which reveals the narrator is the murderer, who was a skilled blackmailer and used a Dictaphone to commit the crime. This book also includes 2 other stories - They Do It With Mirrors and Mrs McGinty's Dead.
