This beautiful trio of books would make an excellent gift for any fan of science fiction novels. The Lost World is about an expedition to a hidden world where dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures survive. The Time Machine is about an inventor who travels 802,701 years into the future, where he finds humanity has evolved into two distinct species: the surface-dwelling, weak, and complacent Eloi, and the underground-dwelling, ape-like Morlocks who prey on them. In the Days of the Comet is about a massive green comet whose gases temporarily alter the atmosphere, leading to a global transformation in human consciousness and behaviour.
