Reader's note

A marvellous 1956 edition of Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám. This edition has been translated by Edward Fitzgerald and illustrated with eight beautiful coloured plates by Gilbert James. There is also Fitzgerald's poem reprinted in its most familiar shape - that is, it is a reprint of the earliest form of the poem, which has distinctive merits of its own. There is an introduction by Reynold Alleyne Nicholson on the life and character of Omar Khayyám and the texts of the Rubáiyát. This would look lovely on the bookshelf and is an enchanting read.
