Reader's note

This book is such a deep red that it is almost the colour of wine. The spine has a satisfyingly symmetrical pattern, a larger version of which is also on the front cover. It is often said that you shouldn't judge a book by the cover but in this case it is entirely justifiable to assume that what is contained within is certainly beautiful. This can be demonstrated by the very first stanza of 'The Sea Fairies' - Slow sail’d the weary mariners and saw, Betwixt the green brink and the running foam, Sweet faces, rounded arms, and bosoms prest, To little harps of gold; and while they mused, Whispering to each other half in fear, Shrill music reach’d them on the middle sea. - with 700 pages of beautiful poetry, this antique jewel is something special to be cherished.
