Reader's note

Patterned and wonderful! This book is sure to brighten up any music library! In the story of Beethoven's life the background is of special importance, for the political and social changes that occurred in his time affected the lives of all men, musicians not excepted. During the eighteenth century almost the only openings for a musical career above the level of the playing ranks lay in service under an aristocratic patron or the church. Beethoven began his career under the system of patronage and at Vienna, he owed much of his advancement to aristocratic friendship and aid. Despite this, his music changed the entire world and continues to be played and enjoyed to this very day! This beautiful book can find a forever home in any collection!
