Reader's note

This wonderfully decorative book is a jewel to add to any antique library! Fully illustrated throughout, this book is a bumper collection of excellent children's stories from the Victorian era! The introduction tells how the book is a reward - Mother said that when all the cobwebs were gone there was a pleasant surprise for me in her top drawer! I should like to know what it can be, but there are so many difficulties in the way of finding out. Of course I shall not think of peeping for I'm honourable, if I am idle! Well where's that umbrella? And here go my treasures into this drawer, and goodbye to them! And here is my work basket with a needle threaded, I do declare! And here goes the last cobweb and I am free! Here is the surprise - a book! Oh mother, you dear, dear mother, how clever you were - it's the Seventeenth Volume of 'OUR DARLINGS'! and the very thing to blow away any remaining cobwebs!
