This is a stunning, floral, rare edition of Louisa May Alcott’s Nice Wives. Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women which was published in 1868. Aclott then wrote a sequel which was published in 1869, however she was not able to secure copyright for her work in Great Britain and a number of publishers took the opportunity to reprint it without her consent. Part Two was given new titles, such as Little Women Wedded (Sampson Low, 1872), Little Women Married (Sampson Low, 1873), Nice Wives (Weldon & Co.,1875), and finally, Good Wives (Nisbet, 1895). In 1881, both texts were revised, re-illustrated and republished in a single volume by Roberts Brothers and Part Two of Little Women became chapters 24-47.
