Reader's note

A rare 1877 edition of Through The Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. Published only 6 years after its initial release. This classic story by Lewis Carroll is the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland where Alice again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it.

'“Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun, The frumious Bandersnatch!” He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought— So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.'

This beautiful red and gold edition is wonderfully illustrated throughout with 50 drawings by John Tenniel. A gem among a bounty of out of print, rare and stunning vintage books on our second hand bookstore.
