Reader's note

This lovely ladybird edition of Life of the Honey-bee tells of how man has used honey as a sweeter since earliest times, and there are many references to it in ancient literature, as well as many myths and errors concerning the life of a honey bee. This book tells of a marvellously efficient and highly organized life of the honey-bee, from laying of the eggs by the queen, the growth of the larvae, the contribution of the ‘drones’ and the ‘workers’ to the swarming of an over-populated colony and the handling of beads by modern bee-keeper.
