Reader's note

Add a burst of orange to your bookshelf with this bright 1964 edition of Jean-Paul Sartre's The Age of Reason. The story covers two days in the life of Mathieu Delarue, a teacher of philosophy, and in the lives of his acquaintances and friends, Mathieu is trying to raise money for the abortion of a woman with whom he has been living for seven years, and at the same time he is obsessed with a a desire for personal freedom. Individual tragedies and happiness are etched against the Paris summer of 1938, with its nightclubs, galleries, students, and café society.
