Reader's note

What else is there to be said about the wonderful Pride and Prejudice? Miss Austen's classic novel has barely been out of print since it was first published in 1813 and for good reason. In Chapter 3, Mr Darcy expresses his opinion of Elizabeth - “Which do you mean?” and turning round, he looked for a moment at Elizabeth, till, catching her eye, he withdrew his own, and coldly said, “She is tolerable: but not handsome enough to tempt me; and I am in no humour at present to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men. You had better return to your partner and enjoy her smiles, for you are wasting your time with me.” - Mr Darcy allowing his own prejudice to cloud his opinions to the point of being insulting! If you don't already own a copy of this book, then this pastel green edition from dent will look wonderful on your library shelf.
