Reader's note

A wonderful copy of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen’s brilliant and much-loved novel of manners overflows with romance and her dazzling wit. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet of Longbourn estate have five daughters, however the property is entailed so that it can only be passed onto a male heir. The wealthy Mr. Bingley has moved into town recently and he introduces his friend, the even wealthier Mr. Darcy. The opinionated and spirited Elizabeth Bennet is not impressed with the proud and haughty Mr. Darcy and the feeling is mutual, their clash of personalities leads to some of the best verbal sparring in the book. The novel is clear on the importance of marrying for love as opposed to money, but can Mr. Darcy overcome his pride and Elizabeth overcome her prejudice for that to be the case? “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”
