Reader's note

A wonderful 1963 edition of How You Got Your Name by James Pennethorne Hughes, published in 1963. Names are part of history - your name, for instance. If you are a Bell then you were probably a bell ringer, someone who lived near a Bell tavern, to just 'belle' - very good looking. Should you be a Jenkins then your roots are Flemish. Not only your own name, not those of your friends, your firm, your boss, your business acquaintances - there are hundreds of names with which you come into daily contact - and here is the way to work them all out.
