Reader's note

The old village church, the timber bridge across the stream… those farm buildings and a group of trees which have appeared so attractively silhouetted against the evening sky - to be able to record these things on paper, besides adding pleasure and purpose to a rambling expedition will, for many, complete the joys of a holiday in the country. Most beginners, not knowing how to begin, the material required or the best view to select, how much to put in (how much to leave out), quite naturally fear to make the attempt. But with guidance and practice, within a short time it should be possible for the observant student to put on paper creditable impressions of delightful subjects. E.G.Earthrowl is a master with great experience and the examples of his art and technical skill are in themselves an inspiration.
