These gorgeous red and gold decorative early editions are written in the original Danish language; complete with numerous wonderful illustrations throughout. True gems among a bounty of out of print, rare and stunning vintage books on our second hand bookstore! Beautiful set of the first two series of the three in total, in which Andersen from 1858 divided his fairy tales and stories. Bound in the characteristic composed splendid bindings, designed by C.A. Reitzel around 1860 in connection with the publication of collected series of Andersen's fairy tales. The royal decorations are based on designs by Constantin Hansen or H. Olrik and were used for fairy tale publications by Andersen right into the 20th century.
