Reader's note

A beautiful red and gold 1973 edition of Graham Greene’s The Heart of the Matter! Major Henry Scobie is serving as border security in a British Colony in West Africa, where he is passed over for a promotion. This affects his wife, Louise, the most as she already feels isolated from everyone else there. Feeling responsible for her misery, the normally honest and pious Scobie takes a loan from a known black marketeer so she can move away. This one compromise however leads to another and soon events spiral beyond his control. Read more in this lovely vintage edition complete with its dust-jacket!
