Reader's note

A 1939 edition of Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell complete with purple dust jacket. A book as widely read in every language as Gone With the Wind which has broken every record made by a popular book since modern literature produced ‘best sellers’, and is now the subject of the greatest film ever made, has not achieved all this by accident or luck. It has been welcomed because it is primarily a stirring, romantic story. Scarlett O’Hara’s history and that of the equally dynamic and untameable Rhett Butler, has made this classic story a great novel and an even greater film.
