Add a vintage history book to your bookshelf with this 1957 edition of Glimpses of the History of Painswick. An age of evolution, which sweeps away so many visible reminders of our past, has led to an increasing interest in what survives from it, and to a quickened curiosity as to the buildings, the lives, and although and habit of our forebears, which should afford a ready welcome to a new edition of Glimpses of the History of Painswick by the late Sir Francis Hyett. Subject and author combine to make such a study specially interesting and rewarding. Painswick lying in the heart of the stone belt which bred such magnificent masons, has preserved for us a remarkable series of their best works over several centuries, where its vigorous and independent life has more than once made contact with the main stream of national events. This is a lovely informative book that would make a wonderful addition to any home collection.
