Reader's note

'This is the best! You won't find a lovelier hamlet more beautifully placed than Stockend, anywhere from Land's End to John o' Groats!' I declared, using the old, familiar expression. 'How do you know?' demanded Bill. I sniffed the sunny air, and looked out before me. The hills loomed invitingly in the distance. Up from the Bristol Channel, a puff of breeze brought with it the faintest, most delicate freight of salt air. And it was spring. 'Damn it!' I said. 'I'll go and look!' - This brilliant passage sets the entire book in motion documenting one man's journey to find the most beautiful English hamlet. Entertaining from start to finish, this book is a fine addition to any library!
