Reader's note

This wonderfully decorative old book will stand out in your travel library with a blue, red and white cover as bright and vibrant as the content! Author Elspeth Huxley has visited the continent of Africa many countries and has written over twenty books - fiction, travel, biography, hisotry and crime - all with African themes. In 1963 she spent three months in Tanganyika, Kenya and Uganda travelling through game parks, talking to political leaders, visiting new universities and watching the emergence of a new East Africa feeling its way into the future. This is the result - a notebook with a double vision: in the foregound, Mrs Huxley's sharp and keen observations, in the background, a lifetime acquaintance with East Africa.
