A wonderful copy of Novels by the Bronte Sisters. This book collects a novel from each sister, selected and introduced by Peter Quennell. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë follows the growth of the heroine into adulthood where she is employed as a governess in Thornfield Hall. She falls in love with the brooding and troubled Mr. Rochester, however the mysterious man seems to be hiding a terrible secret. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is about the love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, who was adopted by Catherine’s father. Heathcliff leaves the Earnshaw household after believing his love to be unreciprocated, he returns wealthy and with plans of revenge for those who mistreated him. Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë is the story of a poor governess, treated poorly by those who she works for. Drawn from the author’s personal experiences, the novel shows the harsh realities of those working as governesses and the abuse and isolation they experience.
