Reader's note

Captivating and charming, this book of Fairy Tales is truly unique. The author notes in her foreword - These stories come to you from the little Island of Mann, in the middle of the Irish Sea, where the people are descended from Celts and from the Scandinavians who once conquered the island, and the old language is Manx Gaelic. You must imagine an island where the gold of the gorse comes down to the clear sea: where the hills are purple with heather in Autumn, and the banks thick with primroses in Spring; where gulls flash in the sunlight, and seals bask on the rocks or slip silently into the sea. - with such a picturesque environment, it's easy to imagine how such interesting mythology was created.
