This lovely orange penguin edition of Daphne du Maurier’s My Cousin Rachel is a mystery-romance, set primarily on a large estate in Cornwall. The books tells the story of Philip Ashley who was orphaned when he was very young and went into the care of his benevolent older cousin, Ambrose. Ambrose is single and delights in Philip as his heir, a man who will love his grand home as much as he does himself. However, trouble starts when Ambrose travels to Florence and meets and marries, the suddenly dies. Grief stricken and angry at his loss, in cousin and fortune, Phillip prepares to meet his cousin's widow with hatred in his heart. Despite himself, Philip is drawn to this beautiful, sophisticated, mysterious lady named Rachel like a moth to the flame. And yet... might she have had a hand in Ambrose's death?
