Reader's note

This brilliant old book is the perfect way to improve your game! Author Revd E. E. Cunnington states in his preface - The title of this little work covers a wide subject which might furnish material for a large volume. It is hoped that what is given here will at least open the eyes of the young student to some of the traps that may be set, and of the surprises that may be sprung upon him, in our game. He will soon see that the word 'trap' in Chess, has a meaning very similar to elsewhere; setting a trap is bringing about your position which tempts your opponent to make a move appearing at first sight to offer material advantage, but in reality turning out badly for him. - gain an advantage and add this fascinating title to your vintage games room.
