Reader's note

This brilliant and blue edition of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre is a vintage edition from 1953! The story is told by Jane, a plain, self-willed young girl, who, after an unhappy childhood, much bitterness and suffering, finds happiness with the man she loves, Mr. Rochester. As an orphan, Jane lived with the Reeds, her deceased uncle's wife and children, who regard her with resentment and dislike. At the age of 10 she is sent to Lowood School and, eight years later, becomes governess to Adele Varens, Mr. Rochester's ward. The promise of Jane’s unhappiness is rudely shattered by the untimely intervention of a Mr. Mason during the wedding ceremony between Jane and Mr. Rochester. Broken-hearted, Jane leaves Thornfield and is befriended by the Rivers family. Find out whether these two will reconcile in this wonderful vintage edition!
