Reader's note

This beautifully patterned book will look wonderful on the shelves of any antique library! It has an exquisite design on the covers and has a stunning red textblock to match. Originally published in 1877 and edited by his wife, the book starts with the following dedication - Dedicated to the beloved memory of a righteous man who loved god and truth above all thing. A man of untarnished honour - loyal and chivalrous - gentle and strong - modest and humble - tender and true - pitiful to the weak - yearning after the erring - stern to all forms of wrong and oppression - yet most stern towards himself - who being angry, yet sinned not. Whose highest virtues were known only to his wife, his children, his servants, and the poor. - a moving dedication to an excellent man! A wonderful addition to any collection!
