Reader's note

Brilliant in every way, this wonderful vintage biography is a real treat for any fan of the poet Robert Burns. Principal Shairp writes of the famous poet's birth. - A few days after his birth, a storm blew down the gable of the cottage, and the poet and his mother were carried in the dark morning to the shelter of a neighbour's roof, under which they remained till their own home was repaired. In after years he would say 'No wonder that one ushered into the world amid such a tempest should be the victim of sotrmy passions' - certainly an interesting way of looking at things! With red boards and decorative gold detals on the spine, this title is a great addition to any home library.
