Reader's note

These two vintage brown classic books are the perfect gift set for a Brontë lover. Jane Eyre is written by Charlotte Brontë and tells the story of orphaned Jane Eyre who grows up in the home of her heartless aunt, enduring loneliness and cruelty. This troubled childhood strengthens Jane's natural independence and spirit - which prove necessary when she finds employment as a governess to the young ward of Byronic, brooding Mr Rochester. As her feelings for Rochester develop, Jane gradually uncovers a terrible secret, forcing her to make a choice. Wuthering Heights is written by her sister Emily Brontë and tells the story of Mr Lockwood. Having taken over the tenancy of Thrushcross Grange, Mr. Lockwood visits his landlord, Heathcliff, at the neighbouring Wuthering Heights. A former housekeeper relates to Lockwood Heathcliff's story, that of a foundling brought there by Mr. Earnshaw to be raised alongside his own children, Hindley and Catherine. Hindley's contempt for the perceived outsider increases when he becomes the master of Wuthering Heights, while a close spiritual bond forms between Heathcliff and Catherine.
