Reader's note

This beautiful edition of a classic nature series will look wonderful in any home library! Filled to the brim with 48 exquisite full colour plate illustrations, this is a lovely book that can take pride of place on any bookshelf. The author writes about birds in such a fascinating way - In winter most of the birds are silent. They have no heart to sing in the cold weather. Often food is hard to find, and the search for it takes all their time in the short days. At night they roost among the bushes or in some quiet corner in their native haunts. In many cases they crowd together, poor shivering things to keep warm. - reading this makes one want to put food out for them this winter! This book is the perfect gift for the budding ornithologist that you know!
