Reader's note

Sir George Pyke, founder and proprietor of the Mammoth Publishing Company was peeved. It was unmistakably clear that his son, Roderick, nominally editor of Society Spice, was not a chip off the old block; he lacked altogether the aggressive drive of the business tycoon. Then Sir George’s sister, Frances, a feminine replica of her eminent brother, had a crafty idea: why not marry him off to her niece, Felicia, a sprightly girl calculated to put stuffing into any man. And the plan might have succeeded but for the arrival of Bill West, send from New York, by an irate uncle on a baffling business mission. In him, Felicia recognised - almost too late - the man for whom she could forsake all others. This delightfully characterised story, with its ingenious plot and irresistible humour, is such as only P. G. Wodehouse could write!
