Reader's note

Arthur Conan Doyle is in the history books for one of the greatest fictional characters ever created - Detective Sherlock Holmes. In Chapter 2, Sherlock demonstrates his observational prowess by dating a document that is sticking out of Dr. James Mortimer's pocket - “Early eighteenth century, unless it is a forgery.”“How can you say that, sir?” “You have presented an inch or two of it to my examination all the time that you have been talking. It would be a poor expert who could not give the date of a document within a decade or so. You may possibly have read my little monograph upon the subject. I put that at 1730.” - deductive reasoning at it's finest! Read on and try to see if you can figure things out at the same pace Sherlock does. If you already don't own this classic novel, then now is the perfect time to add this edition to your library.
