Reader's note

This is an 1819 edition of An Enquiry into the Duties of The Female Sex by Thomas Gisborne. This book is leatherbound with a tooled spine that will look nice on the shelf. The subject matter of this book gives an insight into the average man's view of a woman in society at the time, how she should act, dress and what she should and shouldn't do; which is why Feminism is important today as men in many countries of the world still view women as a possesison to be controlled rather than a human being with a free independent will. This book may have a point though, women shouldn't read romance novels because "The catastophe and the incidents of these ficticious naratives commonly turn of the vicissitudes and effects of a passion the most powerful of all those which agitate the human heart... susceptibility of impression and a premature warmth of tender emotions have been known to betray young women into a sudden attachement to persons unworthy of their affection, and thus to hurry them into marriages terminating in unhappiness." Perhaps the author wasn't a fan of Jane Austen novels.
