This wonderful 1950s edition of Agatha Christie's The Murder At The Vicarage would be a brilliant read for any crime fiction fan! Colonel Protheroe, local magistrate and landowner at St. Mary Mead, is murdered. He was so unpleasant and so unpopular that a good many people had at one time or another quite cheerfully, if not seriously, proposed doing away with him. Even the Vicar, the Rev. Leonard Clement, had done so, and it is the Vicar who tells this story: everyone confides in him and a few even confess to him, for he is a very friendly person and easy to get along with. He is certainly more amiable than inspector Slack...
