Reader's note

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a science fiction novel by Jules Verne about a journey aboard Captain Nemo's submarine, the Nautilus. The story is narrated by Professor Pierre Aronnax, who, along with his servant Conseil and harpooner Ned Land, is taken prisoner after their ship attacks the supposed sea monster, the Nautilus. They embark on a 20,000-league voyage, exploring the ocean's depths, encountering marine life, and witnessing wonders like the sunken city of Atlantis and the South Pole. The narrative explores themes of scientific discovery and revenge. In Round the World in Eighty Days, the wealthy and meticulous Englishman Phileas Fogg wagers £20,000 that he can circumnavigate the globe in 80 days with his new valet, Passepartout. They set off on a journey using various modes of transport, encountering numerous obstacles, including a detective who mistakes Fogg for a bank robber. The climax occurs when they arrive back in London, believing they have lost, only to realize they have gained a day by traveling east and have won the bet.
