Reader's note

A gorgeous crimson covered vintage book by Sir Walter Scott. Two historical romances comprised as one volume; Count Robert of Paris & Castle Dangerous. Count Robert is set during the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Alexius Comnenus (1081-1118) and focuses on the arrival of the first Crusaders in 1096. During the oath-taking ceremony on the eve of the Crusade, the haughty Count Robert insults the Emperor by seating himself on the imperial throne. Castle Dangerous is set in 1306 during the Wars of Independence. An English heiress Lady Augusta de Berkely has promised to marry Sir John de Walton if he can defend the strategically vital Castle Douglas against the forces of Robert the Bruce and Sir James Douglas (the 'Black Douglas') for a year and a day. This 1912 edition has thirteen illustrations and with it's gold-gilt spine lettering it is sure to stand out on the bookshelf! A gem among a bounty of stunning vintage books and classic novels on our online used bookstore.
